Introduction

Welcome to RockTheSkillCrane.com, the online skill crane machine.

This site allows you to operate a real arcade skill crane machine located in downtown Norfolk, VA from anywhere in the world. Upon selecting "Play the game" on the left, you will be presented a current photo of the machine, allowing you to see the contents. You are welcome and encouraged to enter percentages for left movement and back movement. The system will execute the move based on your input, and present you with a video of the results! At this point we do not have reliable "prize won" detection, and at this point in time we are not mailing the prizes to the winners.

This is not a hoax. The machine was seen in an earlier state by many at the shmoocon conference in Washington DC in early 2006. After spending a few years in a friends garage, the machine has been restored to working condition and once again is online! It's now located at the 757 Labs hackerspace in downtown Norfolk, VA. This is just one of a number of creative projects completed by various members and friends of the group.

Our system uses email notification so that we can queue jobs for processing. At NO time do we reveal these email addresses to anyone else. We *HATE* spam, and spammers. Please feel confident that we will not sell you out.

We are planning to do somewhat of an overhaul of the way the system handles plays to eliminate the need to wait for an email from the system. Also, we plan to replace the camera. During the day the picture is getting washed out due to it being in bright sunlight. Hang in there and visit often!
